Everybody say Warriors
Choosing a theme for the Weebly project was not very difficult for me. The theme that I chose for my Weebly Website is The Golden State Warriors. As a child, and still to this day I have always been a daddy’s girl. You will always catch me being by my dad's side watching sports or participating in them. Being that I am a Bay Area native (particularly the East Bay) I have always grown up being a huge Warriors fan. My dad is a large influence in my life especially with the sports aspect. My father grew up playing sports in Oakland. I was a Warriors fan even back when Thunder was our mascot, bet you probably don't know who that was! As far back as I can remember watching the Warriors, I always knew them to be a losing team. Before the Warriors got to be the NBA champions that they are today I was with them through the ups and downs. I remember asking my dad “why do we keep watching them when we always lose?”. My dad replied to me and said, “Because once we are good and start winning it will feel so much better”. When I first started watching the Warriors we were below .500 with 26 and 29 win seasons.
Every year, when the Warriors schedule comes out I always write down the date, time and opponent for each game on my calendar. That way I am able to keep up with my team by watching the games or checking the score on my phone. I am looking for more information on the status of the Warriors and its players whether it may be on ESPN, Bleacher Report or even Facebook. I always love reading up on any information on my favorite team. You will always see me posting videos or articles on my Facebook about the Warriors. My bedroom does not look like a typical girls room because I have sports teams posters (The Warriors), bobble heads, rally towels and foam fingers everywhere. You could say I am a sports fanatic especially when it comes to Oakland teams. I always make sure that I am tuned into each game and try to attend a few games every year. Also this past summer since the Warriors won the NBA Finals, I went to the celebration parade in Downtown Oakland. My dad and I arrived there at 4:45am thinking that we would be some of the only people there that we there since it started at 11am… but we were wrong! There were already a few hundred people there to watch our champs as they paraded the streets. The atmosphere felt amazing as I looked around and saw nothing but blue and gold surround me. I had such a great time cheering and interacting with the surrounding fans and seeing crazy things like people watching from trees and light posts. All of these experiences have also helped me shape what I want to do in my near future. In high school I was the Vice President of the Business and Marketing Club (DECA) which had me thinking about the Business field. Being a businesswoman meant that I would be able to incorporate whatever it was that I loved or was interested in and apply it in a business aspect. Then about my last year of high school it became clear to me on what I wanted to do. I wanted to be Public Relations or Advertising rep for one of my favorite sports teams such as The Warriors. Being able to pair my two interests and turn them into a career would be absolutely amazing. Not to mention that the Warriors Corporation was voted the #1 sports team to work for in the NBA. This topic is not just something that I am interested in, but this topic is something that I want to be able to turn into my future career. This is more than just a interest for me, it is my future. |
